Last SIAM reports – car sales up by 3.4%, bicycle sale by 6.5%
According to the latest reports published by society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, domestic sales of passenger cars increased by 3.4% in April 2012. Sales last year were April 1, 62, 813, while this year it's 1, 68, 351. This growth is considered the lowest growth in the past 10 years – a point to ponder!
The same report also shows that the sale of the motorcycle in India increased by 6.5% in April, 8, 6, 1602 of 8, 08, 728.
According to SIAM is the the fuel price rise and high interest rates that have affected the demand for small cars in the market. Including the small cars of Maruti Alto, M800, Tata Nano, A-Star and Spark, WagonR and GM saw a growth of just 0.68%. All potential small car buyers are very sensitive to rising interest rates and fuel prices and this is the main reason why they keep delaying their purchase. It was the spark that the biggest drop in sales.
Unlike this, the sale in Middle sized cars such as the Honda City, Hyundai Verna Maruti DZire and increased. Same is the case with passenger cars and SUVs.
In spite of the fact that Honda doesn't have a variant of diesel for one of his cars, they have an increase in sales and bookings compared to GM and Ford.
It is expected that the second half of the year, some big changes in the auto sales in India can see.
